Multimedia & Gamification

Technologies for Learner Motivation and Engagement
Lecture Videos
I create lecture videos to introduce weekly topics and reinforce key concepts. These videos also strengthen instructor presence by helping students connect with my voice and explanations, fostering a more engaging and supportive online learning experience.

Microlearning Tutorial Videos
I develop microlearning tutorial videos to teach specific skills and tools in short, focused segments. Each video targets a single learning objective, allowing students to quickly apply new techniques, revisit complex steps as needed, and build confidence through self-paced, just-in-time learning.

Multimedia Courseware
I developed a multimedia courseware module using Articulate 360 to demonstrate principles of interactive learning design (see instructor example below). While I do not use such courseware in my own teaching, I taught IDT 6700 (Principles of Multimedia Production and Courseware Design), where I guided students in creating screencasts and scenario-based learning materials using authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and Rise 360 (see student example below). Through this course, students learned to design engaging, media-rich learning experiences that integrate both instructional and aesthetic design principles.

Gamification & Tokens
The tech-flex tasks were collaboratively designed by the instructional team to encourage students to explore emerging technologies and apply course concepts in creative, hands-on ways. Starting mid-semester, these optional activities were shared through Canvas, Twitter, and a badges blog, allowing students to showcase their learning across multiple platforms. Students earned digital badges—visual symbols of achievement—that could be shared on their Cluster portfolios and social media. Although participation was optional, earning five badges granted students a token (e.g., assignment redo or late submission pass), providing a fun, gamified incentive for active engagement and self-directed learning.
