Hello, my name is Hajeen Choi. I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Management & Technology (M&T) and Instructional Design & Technology (IDT) programs within the Department of Applied Technology at Bowling Green State University.

In the M&T program, I teach courses such as Project Management, Technology Forecasting for Emerging Technologies and Innovation, and Information Technologies: Trends and Issues, as part of the “Digital Technologies” concentration for adult learners. In the IDT program, I teach online Master’s courses like Multimedia Production and Courseware Design, Digital Learning Theories,
Evaluation and Learning Analytics, and Human Performance Consulting.

I earned my MBA from Duke University and bring approximately 15 years of industry experience. I have worked as an instructional designer, e-learning content and service planner, IT consultant, management consultant, and R&D PMO in an educational company. I also hold a Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Learning Technologies from Florida State University.

My research explores how to design online learning experiences that foster interaction, engagement, and situational motivation among learners. I’m also interested in AI-enhanced course design and AI–human interaction—examining how these can boost learner motivation and complement human collaboration in online knowledge-building activities. In addition, I study how learners’ informal networked learning through social media and online communities enriches their learning experiences and help build their personal/professional learning network. To pursue these interests, I design, study, and evaluate AI- and technology-enhanced learning environments using mixed methods and learning analytics techniques such as Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Epistemic Network Analysis (ENA).
